The present work aims to show the results of the application of a table of self-esteem to second semester students of the Degree in Licenciado en Tecnologias de información that carry the subject of 041 Human Development and professional competitiveness in the Facultad de Contaduria Pública y Administración de la U.A.N.L. To determine whether self-esteem directly impacts academic performance by assessing irrational ideas, self-concept, self-confidence, self-control, and social skills. As a result we did not determine a correlation between self-esteem and academic performance, noting that the totality of our sample is within the category of low and very low self-esteem. This opens the door to further expanding and improving this topic, as we consider that the results can be used for the improvement of education and educational tools.
