Peer Review and Evaluation Policy

VinculaTégica EFAN uses a double-anonymous peer-review process. This process is intended to ensure academic quality, objectivity, transparency, confidentiality, and methodological consistency in the manuscripts submitted to the journal.

All manuscripts are evaluated in accordance with the Guidelines for Authors, the Code of Ethics, and the journal’s other editorial policies. To proceed to peer review, submissions must meet the formal, thematic, methodological, ethical, and originality requirements established by the journal. The maximum permitted similarity score is 20%. For further information, please consult the Plagiarism Policy.

Editorial and Peer-Review Process

1. Manuscript Submission

The process begins when a manuscript is submitted through the OJS editorial platform during the journal’s designated submission period and in accordance with the requirements specified in the Guidelines for Authors.

2. Preliminary Editorial Review

Once the manuscript has been received, the editorial team conducts a preliminary review to verify compliance with the formal, thematic, methodological, ethical, and originality requirements established by VinculaTégica EFAN.

The estimated time for this preliminary editorial review is up to 15 business days, calculated from the date on which the complete submission is received through the editorial platform.

At this stage, the manuscript may:

  1. Proceed to the peer-review process.
  2. Be returned to the authors for preliminary revisions. The authors will have 10 business days to make the requested corrections.
  3. Be rejected by the editorial team if it does not meet the journal’s minimum requirements.

3. Assignment of Reviewers

Manuscripts that successfully complete the preliminary editorial review are assigned to reviewers with expertise in the relevant subject area, methodology, or academic discipline.

4. Peer Review

Peer review is conducted using standardized evaluation instruments specifically designed for each type of article accepted by the journal. These instruments are intended to strengthen the transparency and consistency of the editorial process.

The estimated time for reviewers to submit their reports is up to 30 business days from the date on which the manuscript is assigned. This period may vary depending on reviewer availability, the complexity of the manuscript, the need for editorial clarification, or the request for an additional evaluation.

5. Review Recommendation

Each reviewer must provide a comprehensive assessment of the manuscript based on the evidence identified during the evaluation. The reviewer may recommend one of the following decisions:

  1. Accept.
  2. Accept with revisions.
  3. Reject.

The review report must include clear, specific, and constructive comments for the authors. When necessary, reviewers may also provide confidential comments addressed exclusively to the editorial team.

6. Editorial Decision

The final decision regarding publication rests with the editorial team of VinculaTégica EFAN. This decision is made after considering the review reports, compliance with the journal’s editorial policies, and the relevance of the manuscript to the journal’s scope.

When reviewers provide conflicting recommendations, the editorial team may request an additional review or issue a reasoned editorial decision based on the available evidence.

7. Revision Process

When the recommendation is “Accept with revisions,” the authors must address the reviewers’ comments within a maximum of 20 business days.

Depending on the nature and extent of the requested changes, the revised version may be assessed by the editorial team or returned to the reviewers for further evaluation.

8. Transparency

To strengthen the transparency and consistency of the editorial process, VinculaTégica EFAN makes the evaluation instruments for each type of article available to authors:

  • Review Rubric for Empirical Articles (IMRaD)
  • Review Rubric for Bibliometric Articles
  • Review Rubric for Systematic Literature Review Article
