Abstract

Belonging to a constantly changing world involves reflecting on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on all aspects of life, so it is important to understand the benefits and risks of its use, with ethics being an indispensable element. Objective: To investigate how AI is used as a supporting tool in academic and professional life considering ethical principles and their possible implications. Methodology: A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design and exploratory scope was employed. Data collection took place in March 2024, through a self-developed survey, and descriptive statistics were used for the analysis of the results. Among the most important findings was that 46% of respondents believe AI tools are useful, 20% think it is ethical to use them, and only 10% are very concerned that the use of these tools will affect the originality of their work. The inclusion of this topic in academic and professional life, as well as the creation of public policies regarding it, is important for the responsible use of AI tools.
