The Human Factor in the Digital Age: Key to Productivity and Innovation in the Mexican Automotive Industry

Abstract

This article presents a systematic literature review focused on identifying how human capital factors influence productivity and innovation within the automotive industry in Mexico. Based on the analysis of 30 scientific articles published between 2020 and 2025, eight key dimensions are examined: workforce competencies, organizational climate, performance evaluation, training and continuous education, organizational performance, digital transformation and the human factor, generational change, and organizational well-being and health.

The findings reveal that training and continuous education, organizational climate, and organizational performance are key elements with a positive and direct impact on labor productivity in companies within the automotive sector. Additionally, successful practices implemented by leading assembly companies are identified, highlighting the integration between technology and organizational culture. The research proposes recommendations to strengthen human development policies aligned with the digital transformation of the automotive sector.

Juan Rositas-Martinez, Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León

Dr. Juan Rositas is a Tenured Research Professor in the Doctoral Program in Accounting at the Faculty of Accounting and Business Administration, with over 20 years of academic experience in teaching and research. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy with a specialization in Administration and has supervised numerous master's and doctoral theses. Dr. Jesus Santoyo, Perdue University School of Business

Eng. Jesus Santoyo is a Quality Engineering Manager with over 25 years of experience in the manufacturing and service industries. Throughout his career, he has led multidisciplinary teams in the implementation of quality management systems, continuous improvement initiatives, and regulatory compliance under international standards such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and Six Sigma. Recognized for his strategic and results-driven approach, he has made significant contributions to process optimization, cost reduction, and increased customer satisfaction in high-performance organizations. His technical leadership and operational expertise make him a benchmark in the field of industrial quality.
