Socioeconomic and Demographic Profile of Calderón Entrepreneurs: Opportunities and Challenges

Entrepreneurship in its various forms and contexts continues to be a key driver for the economic and social development of countries. In this sense, this research seeks to characterize the profile and sociodemographic of entrepreneurs in the Metropolitan District of Quito, Ecuador. Therefore, the objective is to analyze the relationship between their variables, in order to identify the main challenges and opportunities in their environment. The research was quantitative, 194 surveys were validated, and the results were analyzed in the SPSS statistical program. Given that the information is heterogeneous, ANOVA was applied to identify the demographic characteristics that influence or not the income of the entrepreneurs. The findings of the study focus on the fact that most of the entrepreneurs are young-adult, with a positive correlation between age and time of business operation. The level of education is related to the income they receive. In terms of gender, there is inequality, with women earning less income. Finally, the business lines that generate the highest income are: technology, education and specialized services.
