Productive projects for food self-reliance: A look at the Socioeconomic context in the south of Nuevo León

The objective of this research is to describe the social and economic environment of productive projects for food self-reliace currently active in the southern part of the state of Nuevo León. This research examines the factors that influence food self-sufficiency in economic units represented by family businesses in this study. To achieve this objective, a qualitative, descriptive, and cross-sectional study was conducted using data collected by the 2019 and 2020 economic and agricultural censuses of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) in the municipalities of Aramberri and Galeana, Nuevo León, as secondary sources of information. The results show an economic and social context relevant to the development of productive projects, as well as their relevance to the local economy and food self-sufficiency, given that these are the localities with the highest poverty rates in the state.
