Socioeconomic Analysis of Microenterprises in Morona Canton, Ecuador

The present study analyzes the socioeconomic characterization of microenterprises in Morona Canton, Ecuador. A descriptive and explanatory approach is employed, with a non-experimental cross-sectional research design. The sample consists of owners or representatives of microenterprises, selected through non-probabilistic sampling. A structured questionnaire is used as the data collection instrument, addressing sociodemographic aspects, as well as the structure, financing, and technology and innovation of microenterprises. The results reveal that the commercial sector has the highest incidence in Morona Canton. Furthermore, a predominance of female owners, married individuals, and those with secondary level academic education is identified. Mostly, microenterprises were initiated with personal savings, highlighting inadequate financial support. These findings suggest the need for economic and monetary policies tailored to the realities of microenterprises to promote their development and sustainability.
